Some Aspects of the Santal Rebellion of 1855–56
I would briefly describe in this paper the general character of the Santal Rebellion (1855–1856) and certain incidents of the rebellion turned out to be a foremost peasant upsurge in Bengal during the first half of the eighteenth century and the five decades of the nineteenth century of the English colonial rule in India, following the more formidable the Fakir and the Sannyasi uprisings, and the peasant revolt led by Titu Mir. However, all the descriptionsof the Santal Rebellion would be based on the original source materials which were written by the English officials, such as Ashley Eden (Assistant Special Commissioner of Bengal Presidency) and W.W. Hunter of Bengal Civil Service, as well as with the help of rare books written on the rebellion.
