Left Cultural Movement in Andhra Pradesh: 1930s to 1950s

We propose to discuss in this paper, the Left-inspired and Left-led cultural movement in the erstwhile Andhra and Telangana regions of today’s Andhra Pradesh during the 1930s and 40s and up to the 1950s. The movement
comprised of two broad streams, popular literature and people’s theatre, the former dealing with progressive trends in Telugu literature and the latter with the theatre. Both these formed an integral part of what is known as popular culture.
