Manto: A Psychological Portrait
‘Everywhere I go I find a poet has been there before me.’ – Sigmund Freud It would be appropriate if we replace ‘poet’ in Freud’s statement with ‘artist’. A great artist does not depend on psychology, science and research. His creative observations allow him access to the depth of a man’s heart and his world. This power of observation and the fundamental truths thus derived are proofs of an artist’s greatness. An artist’s voice will penetrate the heart of the reader only when the reader shares the same experience.
