Journalism and Public Health Crises: Media and the Covid-19 Pandemic in India
Communicating public health crises effectively and accurately to the people has remained a serious concern throughout the last century. Media coverage of the Covid-19 pandemic has exposed many systemic issues associated with the functioning of the mainstream media across the world. The media’s active role in a time of crisis has been a discussion point in many democratic societies in the recent past. In India too, the lack of constructive journalism during the ongoing pandemic has been a key shortcoming of the media.
