‘Classically Yours’

The word is a curious being. Written or spoken, seen or heard, I find her –the word – to be fascinating.

The Word as ‘She’

I know that in the English language only living beings, only those that breathe, are ‘he’ and she’ – with rare exceptions like ‘Nature’. But the word, for me, is not just a living being; it is a woman, with myriad meanings, feelings, constantly evolving. And it is that last qualification that men lack. So the word is definitely a ‘she’.Every word is a living entity travelling through time. She watches herself constantly change and adapt to newer environments and understandings.  And then she does a very strange thing.
