Effectiveness of Trade Unionism in a Globalised World: The India Case
In light of the above observation – reviewing the factors affecting entitlements – it can be argued that the living standard of the organised manufacturing sector workers in India have hardly improved in the last three decades. Additionally, there is evidence on deteriorating working conditions. Now, trade unions (TUs) traditionally organise workers at the factory floor to struggle for fair wages and better working conditions. Therefore, faced with the present reality, one would expect TU movement in India to be vigorously energised. Paradoxically, this is not the case.
