Gyorgy Lukacs and the Russian Soviet Factor

This article is an attempt to reconstruct the trajectory of György Lukács’ days spent in the former Soviet Union and delineate the dynamics of his creative interventions during this period. An important issue would be to investigate the attitude of the Soviet authorities towards the thinker. This article, thus, would primarily touch upon themes such as Lukács’ life and work in the USSR; Lukács and Solzhenitsyn and/or Socialist Realism; Lukács’ intellectual and cultural role in the long history of Soviet aesthetics; and, finally, the relevance of Lukács today.
