Theoretical Considerations on Universal Healthcare in Tamil Nadu
The private sector dominates the contemporary healthcare system in India. As a result the working poor experience adverse health outcomes (Qadeer 2013). The healthcare experience of countries such as Cuba indicates that universal healthcare is achievable at relatively low cost and even when per capita income is not very high. The key to this advance has been a publicled healthcare system that is universal and therefore free at the point of use (Brouwer 2011; Kirk 2017).
