Braja Mohan Sharma was a leading member of the legal profession in Guwahati  and a major Left thinker and activist, whose untimely death robbed the progressive movement in Assam of a precious asset. An annual lecture has been instituted in his memory which was delivered recently by Malini Bhattacharya. The lead article in the current issue of Social Scientist is the text of that lecture.
