OBITUARY: Bhairabi Prasad Sahu
For several decades, our understanding of ancient, and what has now been acknowledged as early medieval India, has been slowly but steadily transformed. Bhairabi Prasad Sahu was amongst the scholars nurtured in the post-Independence era who contributed consistently and substantially to enrich our understanding of these historical periods.
Born in 1957, Sahu began teaching history at Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University, in 1983, before joining the faculty of the post-graduate Department of History of the University in 1988, where he served with exemplary dedication and infectious enthusiasm till the very end. He ctaught a range of courses, dealing with political processes, social and economic history, archaeology, as well as ancient Greece.
