OBITUARY: Sitaram Yechury – Commitment, Compromise and Charm

Some of my most relaxed and enjoyable moments in India in recent years have been spent during the lunch hour in the Sahmat office in Delhi each winter with Sitaram Yechury and his communist friends and companions, all brought together there by Rajen Prasad. For me, these have been highly instructive occasions too, giving me a sense of the field, unavailable in the Indian newspapers I read each morning, sitting ten thousand miles away in New York.
