OBITUARY – A Tribute to Asok Sen

Asok Sen (1927–2015) was a mentor to a generation of scholars from Bengal. He went to South Suburban Branch School in Calcutta, and then studied economics at Presidency College and at the University of Calcutta. As an economist, he worked at the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta from 1955 to 1966, and at Burdwan University from 1966 to 1972. He was a Fellow of the Indian Council of Social Science Research during 1972–73.
